I basically knew what I was getting into - Sham Shui Po is a poor and aging district, but also convenient enough such that prices are not going to be low. For the price, I found the hotel clean and well run. It was very small, but this is Hong Kong.

The whole sale and retail market place around the Hotel that operate from morning till night. Easy access via MTR, buses & Taxis. It is a down to earth place where common people can get their daily necessities with ease and in great varieties.

It is within good amenities, if you can look past the looks and stares from the locals. No-one will entertain you if you don't speak the local language either. These are good things though - they won't disturb or go into your space.
